Last Chance Mercantile and Other Programs
The Monterey Regional Waste Management District (MRWMD) offers several recycling and hazardous household waste disposal opportunities. Located in Marina, MRWMD offers the award-winning Last Chance Mercantile, where residents can drop off clothes, furniture, appliances, and other materials. These items are diverted from the landfill, and are resold on-site. Last Chance is also an extraordinary opportunity to bargain hunt for accessories, clothes, antiques, furnishings, and other household items.
MRWMD also has a recycling center, as well as a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility for residents within the district (includes all residents within Pacific Grove). Identification is required.
Low-cost landscaping supplies are also available on-site. Fill sand, firewood, compost, potting soil blends, woodchips, and other recycled matrials are available for purchase.
