Parking Services
The Parking Enforcement Unit enforces all vehicular non-moving violations established by city ordinances. Parking Enforcement Officers have the responsibility of ensuring an orderly traffic flow in the downtown area and maximizing the utilization of parking spaces for the public, tourists and business owners. Parking Enforcement Officers are also assigned to enforce fire lane violations work with private property owners, shopping centers and apartment complexes to ensure fire lanes and handicap spaces remain available for specific needs.
Parking Enforcement Officers utilize Autocites, hand held computers, for issuance of parking tickets. The use of the Autocite gives the unit the ability to:
- Issue computer generated tickets in a time efficient manner.
- Allows the Hearings Office to view files.
- Eliminates storage of handwritten ticket forms and manual data entry.
- Generate computerized daily activity logs.
The Autocite program is a sound example of technology implementation that the Pacific Grove Police Department is utilizing to increase work output, thereby allowing the Parking Enforcement Unit to “do more with less.”

We count on the input, support and cooperation of everyone to make our parking management program a success and to enhance pedestrian safety, smooth traffic flow and to allow emergency vehicles to reach their destinations. Our objective is to implement policies that use technology and human resources to provide quality service that is efficient, fair and equitable. Parking Meters
All parking meters operate 365 days per year. Residential permits are not valid at meters. You must have the appropriate change available for your meter, and you must adhere to the time limits associated with the meter.
Residential Parking Permits
There are a variety of residential parking permits available for those living within the city limits of Pacific Grove, and specifically within certain zones.
